If you're looking for a white, sandy beach, drive the hour to Marathon. The longest beach was about 150 feet long with jagged rocks. The others were tiny, full of seaweed and rocks, too. We swam out 100 feet to a replica of a ship wreck. Kinda fun. And we caught some little brown jelly fish, which was fun. But we left after a couple of hours from pain and boredom. Kind of annoying after paying to get in. The little aquarium was fun, but I think most go there for snorkeling boat tours. I'm sure those are fun (shrug).
Thank goodness this park has many amenities because the water is absolutely horrible. So much seaweed and rocks that every other step you took you either cut your foot or you slipped and fell.
Cost is $4.50 per person Services once in park, snorkel trip 40 minute to reef 1.5 hour in water cost $35 plus &20 if need to rent gear. They only sell the snorkel which goes in your mouth which is $15. Also glass boat bottom trips, paddle boards, kayaks and sandy beaches. The water clarity is highly variable.
Pretty good state park. Lots of opportunities for taking part in water activities such as snorkeling, paddle boarding, and kayaking. Those are at an extra cost if you book them, in addition to paying for parking, which there is plenty of. There's also a cool nature trail and a lot of space to relax and picnic. The "beach" here is pretty small and you'll need water shoes to protect yourself. There's also camping here from what I've heard. Definitely recommend checking out the website prior to your visit.
Good for activities, bad for anything else. Beach is small and has mostly rocks plus cost to enter per person. Go to Harry Harris park about 2 miles down the road has nice park and man made cove
